Get comfortable in your body!
My goal as a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist is to help you get comfortable in your body!
My strength is in medical and therapeutic bodywork where we will look beyond treating the symptoms and seek to address the root of your discomfort. We will work together to focus in on specific problem areas to eliminate referred pain, release compressed nerves, mobilize stiff joints, and increase range of motion throughout the body.
BodyWorks By Rae is injury prevention and rehabilitation massage therapy.
I love seeing results! A full body massage is great for overall body awareness and relaxation; however, often only treating the symptoms of something more complex. I believe area specific, targeted bodywork (A.K.A. Neuromuscular Therapy) is the best approach for longer lasting results. Our session together will be explorative and detail oriented, with the intention of finding the precise source of your discomfort.
My melting pot of modalities include Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Pin & Stretch Technique, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, and Trigger Point Therapy.
A specialized clinical form of Massage Therapy targeting the root cause of pain and muscle dysfunction that you won't get with whole body general massage; utilizing the application of techniques such as Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation.

Hi! My name is Rachel; but, my friends call me Rae. I am a Queer, Two-Spirit Human; raised in San Diego, California. I have been practicing massage therapy in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2012. My journey as a healer began at the age of 5 when my mom was in a car accident. Witnessing the aftereffects of her injuries and aiding in the healing process over the years sparked my desire to heal people and allowed me a hands-on learning experience of the body's musculature and an understanding of noninvasive pain management. After twenty five years of helping family and friends manage their pain and stress, Mom suggested I expand my knowledge and develop my practice. I took her advice and I love my work!
Thank you, mom.🖤
In 2012, I attended National Holistic Institute, College of Massage Therapy, in San Francisco, California. During my time there, I excelled in the Core Massage Therapy Program earning a Letter of Excellence for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average and perfect attendance. In 2013, I went on to complete NHI's Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Program in Emeryville, California, earning my title of "Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapist and Health Educator" with 1350 hours of hands on training. There, I gained my love for sports medicine and a deeper knowledge of massage in the medical world.
Since 2012, I have worked with professional athletes, traveled for wellness retreats, participated in corporate employee appreciation events, and have provided medical massage in the chiropractic clinic environment.
Today I focus specifically on your rehabilitation and injury prevention, and give my all to help you get comfortable in your own body.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your wellness journey. I look forward to healing with you!
~Rae
"From years of competing and training hard as an athlete in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I have many muscular imbalances and stiffness throughout major joints in my body. Rae was able to target the areas that needed the most work and actively helped to relieve me of pain. Unlike less experienced therapists, Rae also anatomically identified areas that I should be watchful of. Excellent, excellent head and hands." -Rika K.,
